We have been sailing for a whole year, cruising over 2,500 nautical miles, without using any fossil fuels! No diesel, no propane, no dock power.
When we left the San Francisco Bay in March 2022, we were excited to see what we could do with careful solar management for our motoring, cooking, inverting, and everything else that takes power on the boat. There have been plenty of moments where we have considered turning on the backup genset for additional power, but every day this past year we have chosen to stay solar.
It has been a challenge and a joy, and we love picking our destinations based on where we want to go – not where we need to stop for fuel or propane. The sailing continues…
You two are Rockstars. Not sure I would ever have the discipline. Fair winds my friends
Folks like you give us more energy than the sun to keep going like this. We hope trying to go North doesn’t change our minds.
