Los Frailes is a superb anchorage! I could not recommend it more highly as a remote anchorage. When we dropped anchor, it was clear enough to see it hit the ocean floor, and we watched our own shadow move across the sand. The stars were incredible, with next to no light on shore.
We stayed 11/20/2022 to 11/23/2022.
It is near to Cabo Pulmo, a deservedly famous dive spot, and the local marine life was vibrant and active. Sunsets were a particularly active time, with fish jumping like crazy, and it was fun to get a flashlight out and watch the teeming water.

We anchored at 23º29.843’N, 109º25.373’W.

Notes for boaters:

  • 150′ of chain in 25′ of water.
  • Great holding on a sand bottom.
  • The protection from the elements is great, we were there in huge wind and did not have a problem.
  • There are no shops or restaurants on land.
